Oversleeping in teenagers

Oversleeping may be harmful for your health [ARTICLE] - Pulse Nigeria

Teenagers currently don’t get enough sleep, usually because they have overloaded school hours or because they spend too much time texting until sunrise. On the contrary, other adolescents sleep more than 8-9 hours per day, causing poor development of their mental and physical health. The consequences of oversleeping (hypersomnia) have pushed the teenager’s body to the limit.
Let’s begin by looking at the main causes of this health problem. Researchers stated that oversleeping can occur for a lot of different causes, but people experiment three that are the common ones. Firstly, the lack of nocturnal sleep. It’s related to cellphone addiction and also with their responsibilities in high school or universities that contribute to having a bad sleep schedule. Secondly, sleep apnea syndrome, a breathing disorder in which people cannot sleep at night because their lungs stop breathing and that action interrupts their sleep, so people avoid it because their worst nightmare is to lose their lives when they are sleeping. And the third one is depression. Nowadays, teenagers are exposed to bullying and familiar problems, and usually, they fell themselves like a deer in the headlines when they are in the real world.
Oversleeping has many long and short-term effects. Believe it or not, everything you read previously can lead a person with hypersomnia to serious consequences such as degenerative diseases that can cause greater probabilities of developing Alzheimer's disease and dementia. On the other hand, it can increase body pain, such as back pain, headache, neck pain, and fatigue. Last but not least, oversleeping can cause the worst consequence in your body due to heart problems, death.
What are you waiting to get out of your bed and enjoy life since the sun rises? Enjoy it because you will only live once.
